Lindsay Dworkin, SVP of Policy and Government Affairs, has dedicated her career to transforming education and improving outcomes for students, particularly those who have been historically underserved. In her current role, she leads the team dedicated to supporting NWEA and HMH in advancing state and federal policies that solve persistent problems of practice for teachers through innovative, high-quality curriculum and assessment.

Prior to joining NWEA, Ms. Dworkin held numerous senior roles in government and with national advocacy organizations. Most recently, she led the state policy team at the Alliance for Excellent Education and was a member of President Biden’s Transition Team. Prior to that, Lindsay was appointed as a deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. Department of Education during the Obama Administration, where she directed the Department’s stakeholder engagement efforts around the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act. Before to coming to the Washington, D.C. area, Lindsay was education policy advisor and legal counsel to Governor Jack Markell in Delaware, where she led efforts to develop and implement policies to improve the state’s education system from early childhood through postsecondary.

Lindsay holds a JD from the University of California, Berkeley; an MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University; an MPhil in international relations from Oxford University; and a BA in economics and political science from the University of California, Davis. Lindsay lives in Bethesda, MD, with her husband, two children, and two cats.
